Finding the right counsellor is important

I understand you likely have questions before deciding to book a session. Below I've answered some of the most common questions people often have when they're looking for a counsellor or supervisor. If your question isn't answered here, please don't hesitate to reach out via my Contact page.

Frequently asked questions

I believe in transparency and open communication. I've compiled a list of frequently asked questions to help you understand my services and answer some initial questions you may have. I aim to provide clarity and support as you consider your counselling or supervision journey with me.

What are the most common questions potential clients ask you before booking a session?

The most common questions include:

  • How do I book a session with you?
You can book a session with me by clicking on the Contact tab and providing me with your contact details, and a little bit about what you're wanting to work on. If you don't feel comfortable sharing that in the comments that's totally ok, we can talk about that when we connect.

  • What does it cost?
If you're seeing me for counselling the cost is $140 per session.
If you're seeing me for professional 1 to 1 supervision the cost is $140 per session.
If you'd like me to provide group supervision, we can negotiate based on number of people and length of time for each session.

  • Where are you based?
I have private rooms I can use in Porirua, Wellington Central and Lower Hutt. If none of those options work for you, you're based elsewhere in New Zealand or you want to have sessions after normal business hours, I can meet with you online.

  • Are you registered as an ACC sensitive claims provider?
Yes, I am. You can reach out to me directly and we can start the ACC process together, even if you're already on the ACC waitlist for counselling.

  • What hours do you work?
I recognise that it's not always possible for clients to go to counselling during working hours for a number of reasons. I can offer online sessions after hours, between 5pm and 7pm Tuesdays and Thursdays to work with people's schedules.

  • Can we meet online?
We sure can! If your preference is to meet online I am happy to do that, and I have a safe and confidential space to provide counselling that is just as effective as meeting in person.

  • What's your cancellation policy?
It's absolutely ok if you need to cancel an appointment, providing you give at least 48 hours notice. The full fee will be charged for all sessions that are cancelled with less than 48 hours notice, or if the session is not attended by you on the day.

  • How long do sessions last?
Sessions go for 50 minutes. If you arrive late we'll still need to finish at the scheduled time as I may have someone booked immediately after you.

  • Do you work with children?
Yes! I have had several children as clients and have a lot of experience working with young people.
